All seems lost, hopeless, defeat has killed the dream. Or has it? Has it rather opened a window of opportunity for something new? A different path? This is a very minimalist piece using sythesised instruments and a piano played in such a way that it sounds like it’s literally asking a question.
The scene is perfectly peaceful, calm, lovely, everybody’s fine, all is well. Slowly but surely something begins to change, starts to feel less certain, more uneasy, a little ominous… what is actually happening? This shows how completely opposite moods can morph into one another and back again, from happy to nervous, to peaceful, to scared.
A man crawling through a tunnel of rubbish in the back streets of some god-forsaken town, until he bursts out – in an alternate reality. I set the atmosphere with classic 80s synth sounds, and built the tension with modern drum loops that almost sound like tin cans to enhance the ‘rubbushy’ feeling, adding a male choir low in the background to help enhance the ethereal nature of the scene.
